The Guest-owned arc from trust extended to trust verdict, in three beats. Trust Extended: the Guest arrives with an expectation set before the door opens — reputation, price signal, prior visit, word of mouth — and extends trust that it will be met. Trust Tested: the experience itself, where every [Point Of Experience] is a test of the extended trust whether the operator designed it that way or not. Trust Verdict: closed or broken — closed starts [Relational Compounding], broken produces quiet churn with no complaint and no return. The arc runs whether the operator designed for it or not; [By Design Or By Default] applied to expectation management. The operator’s job is to design all three beats, not just the middle one.

Most operators only think about the middle beat — the actual visit — because it’s the part they can see and control in the moment. But the Guest’s trust was already extended before they walked in, based on signals the operator set weeks or months earlier, and the verdict gets rendered silently, often before the Guest even stands up from the table.
The “broken produces quiet churn” line is the sharpest operational warning in the whole arc. A broken trust verdict usually generates no complaint at all — the Guest doesn’t tell you, they just don’t come back, which means an operator reading only complaint volume as his signal will miss the majority of his trust failures completely.
