# Value Building

### Definition

All-caps candidate form of [Value Building], paired canon with [Value Rebuilding]. Initial ideal-state posture -- the work done right from day one. The cheapest version of value, because it compounds without a tax. All five fundamentals running as one play. Status: provisional, locked at workshop level, not yet ratified at masterfile level.

### Explanation

[Value Building] is the version of the work an operator never has to pay twice for. Every fundamental -- Perspective, Product, People, Performance, Profit -- runs together from day one, so nothing has to be torn out and redone later. Its paired opposite, [Value Rebuilding], is what happens after a failure forces a restoration: the operator pays the original build cost, then pays again to rebuild, and a competitor collects the ground conceded during the fail window on top of both.

The economic case for [Value Building] over [Value Rebuilding] is the whole argument in miniature: value built right the first time compounds without a tax; value that has to be rebuilt after a failure carries every cost cataloged in [Fail Tax] and [Ground Loss Tax] before it even starts compounding again. An operator weighing whether disciplined upfront work is "worth it" is really asking whether they'd rather pay once or pay three times.
