# Two Inspirations

### Definition

The lead must inspire growth in two directions simultaneously: professional -- the cast member wants to grow into the role, get better at it, develop toward becoming a lead -- and personal -- the cast member wants to grow as a human being inside this workplace. Both are lead-produced, not role-produced.

### Explanation

The "lead-produced, not role-produced" distinction is the whole mechanism. A job description can specify duties, but it cannot inspire growth in either direction -- that only happens because a specific [Lead] chose to invest in a specific cast member's development, professionally and personally, at the same time. Miss either direction and the retention math changes: a cast member growing professionally but stagnant personally eventually leaves for a workplace that sees them as a whole person; a cast member growing personally but stalled professionally eventually leaves because there's nowhere left to go.

This pairs directly with [The Match] -- the lead's job of surfacing what a specific cast member actually wants rather than assuming it, then aligning the development offer to what was actually surfaced. [Two Inspirations] names the two lanes that offer has to run in; [The Match] names the discipline of aiming it correctly down either lane.
