# The Real Accountability Model

### Definition

Responsibility matched with authority. The operator grants the [Authority To Execute] the role needs to deliver the responsibility, then holds the role accountable to the outcome. Accountability is real because it can be acted on -- the chain runs end-to-end. Diagnostic: the role can produce the outcome the operator is demanding without escalating; the role makes calls inside its own domain without the operator overriding; the operator's design is upstream of the demand.

### Explanation

This is the positive mirror of [The Scapegoat Model], and the two only make sense read together. [The Scapegoat Model] fails because responsibility gets handed down without the authority to actually deliver it -- the operator holds the role accountable for an outcome it was never equipped to control. [Real Accountability Model] closes that gap: authority moves with responsibility, so accountability lands on something the role can actually act on.

The diagnostic is practical, not theoretical -- watch whether a role can produce the demanded outcome without escalating every decision back up. If every call requires operator sign-off, the role doesn't have real authority yet, and holding it accountable anyway is running [The Scapegoat Model] under a different name.
