# The Question

### Definition

Names the originating diagnostic question that produces the relational frame from inside the post-break landscape: how do I want to be treated, and therefore how should I treat the Guest. The question any reader can ask, regardless of inheritance or training. Paired with the Transposition.

### Explanation

The universality clause is what makes this term more than a rhetorical device. Not every reader inherited a strong relational frame from family or upbringing, and not every operator was trained into hospitality by a mentor who modeled it well. This question is deliberately built to work regardless of that inheritance -- it doesn't ask the reader to recall a frame they already have, it asks them to construct one from first principles, starting with their own experience of wanting to be treated well.

That's what makes the pairing with [The Transposition] a genuine two-step sequence rather than two names for the same idea. [The Question] generates the frame from personal experience; [The Transposition] is the separate discipline of carrying that generated frame into the operator role and applying it to Guests. A reader can answer [The Question] honestly and still fail to complete [The Transposition] -- which is exactly the gap the book's central invitation is built to close.
