# The Lead Family

### Category

IL

### Definition

Proper noun cluster: the training-canon cluster of roles and mechanisms built around "lead" -- the role that trains, certifies, and holds the standard between the operator and the rest of the cast. Placement: People, training canon, Brand Architecture cluster.

### Explanation

A lead is not a title bump. It's a role whose verb is holding the standard for someone else's development -- training, certifying, and modeling the ideal path so it propagates without depending on the operator's direct presence at every shift.

The family exists because a single "lead" term can't carry the full training architecture on its own. Different mechanisms in the cluster handle different parts of the job: certification gates, the standard the lead trains against, the throughput the lead manages while building capability under fire. Naming them as a family keeps the architecture legible instead of collapsing into one overloaded word.

An operator who promotes into "lead" without building the family's supporting mechanics around the promotion has handed out a title without the system that makes the title functional. The role as verb only runs if the surrounding architecture -- training method, certification gate, standard reference -- is actually built.
