# The Accountability Demand

### Category

IL

### Definition

Superseded term, renamed to [Authority To Execute]. Each role is accountable for doing whatever is in their authority to make sure the Guest Experience is successful. Accountability is not a soft virtue or a culture word -- it is the operational axis that determines which side of the H Ladder the operation runs on. Retained in the corpus for cross-reference continuity.

### Explanation

The renaming from [Accountability Demand] to [Authority To Execute] wasn't cosmetic -- it moved the emphasis from what's demanded of the role to what the role is actually equipped to deliver. Demanding accountability without granting matching authority produces the exact failure the [Authority-Responsibility Pairing] names: responsibility assigned, authority withheld, and the role holder blamed for outcomes they had no real power to control.

The underlying claim survives the rename intact. Accountability was never a culture-deck word in this framework -- it's the axis test that separates operations running on [The Real Accountability Model] from operations running on [The Scapegoat Model]. Which side of that axis an operation lives on determines which side of the H Ladder it's climbing or sliding down.
