# Stale Thinking

### Definition

Cause-branch of [Static Thinking]: inertia, the no-look-back habit. The operator is not closed-loop -- they simply stopped looking back. Correctives named: [Reality Check], the calendar-driven refresh discipline; [Post Shift], the event-triggered after-action discipline; and [Question Dumb Shit], the interrogative corrective.

### Explanation

This branch is easy to miss because the operator isn't necessarily isolated or unexposed to new ideas -- they may read plenty, talk to plenty of people, and still be running [Stale Thinking], because the problem isn't intake, it's revisiting. Assumptions set two years ago about pricing, staffing, or vendor terms never get re-examined, not because the operator refuses outside input but because nobody built a discipline to force the look-back.

The three named correctives attack this from different angles on purpose. [Reality Check] forces it on the calendar regardless of triggers. [Post Shift] forces it after specific events regardless of the calendar. [Question Dumb Shit] forces it through a blunt interrogative that doesn't wait for either a schedule or an event -- it's the question an operator can ask themselves at any moment they suspect drag has crept in.
