# Discipline Division of Labor

### Definition

The Perspective architecture that moves the operator's read of the building out of geography -- kitchen versus dining room -- and into discipline, so leadership reads across both physical zones as one standard rather than two.

### Explanation

Most operators inherit a geography-first read without ever choosing it: front of house and back of house get evaluated separately, staffed separately, and led separately, as if they were two businesses sharing a building. [Discipline Division of Labor] breaks that habit by asking what standard is actually being enforced -- food, cast, cleanliness, pace -- and reading that standard wherever it shows up, kitchen or stage, as a single line.

This matters because [The Production] treats front and back as one system during open hours, and a geography-first read fights that frame every time it evaluates the kitchen manager's discipline separately from the lead's discipline on the stage. A discipline-first read catches the cases a geography-first read misses -- a standard that's solid on the stage and sliding in the kitchen isn't two problems, it's one inconsistent standard the operator hasn't yet named as one thing.
